President's Corner

STRIVING TO MAKE THINGS BETTER

For the past three years it has been my pleasure to serve as a member of the Lake Ponderosa Association Board, the last two years as President.  As this will be my last letter to the association members and property owners, I want to share some parting thoughts.

The purpose of the Lake Association is to bring together the property owners at the lake to build a sense of community among a group of people who may come from many miles away, but do have a common interest.  It is intended to serve as a conduit for people to bring their ideas and concerns for the lake to share with others.  The Association can serve as a common voice when discussing issues with the Ahrens family.  Together we have a much louder voice.

In other words, the Association is striving to make things better for everyone here at Lake Ponderosa.  It may not happen as quickly as we might like.  It may be that it cannot be done at all.  However, thanks to those who participate and volunteer their time, many good things do happen.

In another story in this edition of the Anchor, you will read how the board has been meeting with the county for almost two years striving to make certain that all septic systems are tested as required by law and are functioning properly.  This is to protect the quality of the lake water, which is the reason we all own property at Lake Ponderosa.

We have discussed the need to rebuild the bridge (mouse hole) with the Ahrens family.  It sounds like this will be done this fall.  We have worked with the Ahrens family to reinstitute the lake patrol to help keep the lake safe for everyone who wants to enjoy it, and keep off those who have no right to be on the water.

Is everything perfect here in our little piece of paradise?  Certainly not, but there have been many good things come about as a result of the Lake Association.  Some times things take longer than we would like, but as long as we keep striving to make things better, we will make progress.

To all of you who are members of the association and contribute either time or money toward association projects, I thank you for your support and hope you feel it is worthwhile.  To those of you who are not members, I invite you to reconsider.  For a very small price, we can all keep striving to make things better.
