OLD BUSINESS UPDATES:

OPERATIONAL COMMITTEE:   Paul purchased 6 chairs for the deck area.  The air conditioner needs to be put in and the deck stained before the upcoming events.  Don will see to it that this gets done.  There is also a piece of loose siding that needs to be repaired.  A decision needs to be made in regards to the flag pole at the boat ramp area.  First of all, who owns it?  Then does it need to be replaced and if so, we should do this before we put in the electrical for the light.

CLEAN UP DAY:  Spring clean up was a success.  Bob Helmick was the winner of the $50.00 gift certificate for bringing in the most garbage.  It appears that there is less garbage then there has been in previous years.  A write up will go in the next Anchor.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST:   Deanne still needs some volunteers to help serve and clean up.  All items have been purchased or are on order.  Don is taking care of the sausage and will pick that up from Dayton’s next Friday.  Leftover meat will be packaged in 1 pound packages and will be on sale for $3.00 each.

FISHING DERBY:   Harry Meek will head this event up again this year as he has done in the past.  The Marina will be supply T-shirts for every kid that enters the derby.   A motion was made by Jim that we obtain sponsorship from business in town that will have their name printed on the shirt.  It was seconded by Deanne.  200 shirts should be ordered and any funds not raised will be paid for by the LPA.  This was a motion made by Tom and seconded by Dan.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL:  The Boynton’s and Scotts have announced that this is the last year they will be in charge of the Ice Cream Social.  It will be held the first weekend in August.

ASSIGNMENT OF DUTIES REPORTS:

Roads, Dredging/Silt Control/Water Run off – Deanne Paxson, Jan Tope and President of LPA:  The Committee met with Bill Ahrens.  Silt fencing, pot holes, watering of yards from the lake and trees being dumped in the lake were all topics of conversation.  The winter was very hard on the roads this year and if you have a particular bad stop, please call the Ahrens family and they will get to the most dangerous problems first.

Tunnel – Barbie Ahrens:  Barbie stated that the tunnel is 4’ wider, 1-1/2’ taller and 7’ – 9’ deeper.  The incline was not planned to be as steep as it is and the owner of the company is not happy as well.  He assured that it will be amended somehow.  Slow signs should be installed.  There still are some things to do as far as hard surfacing in that area and guard rails.  Pricing is currently being obtained.

Water Testing – Dan Bru:  No report

Boat Ramp – Jim Knoblauch:  Ron Lang was present to give an update on the boat ramp beautification project which he is still involved in.  He has asked that we allow him to spend $250.00 for mulch to spruce things up.  Tom motioned we approve this expenditure and Jan seconded the motion. He also mentioned one plant died and the nursery has one on order to replace it.  He also received a proposal from Hackert to remove the existing fencing around the area and replace it with boulders and other stone.  This came to $14,146.00.  The board asked for other proposals and if these things could be done a little at a time.  Jim offered to help Ron determine what can and needs done and then get more pricing.

Unit Leaders – Deanne Paxson:  See above

Building Improvements – Don Flater:  See above

Anchor – Tom Carstensen:  Articles are due July 5 for the July/August issue.  Durr Marine Storage will have a flyer for this issue.  Lake Ponderosa Marina is reserved for the September/October issue.

Welcome Packet – Jim Knoblauch, Phyllis Anderson:  The final copy has not been completely typed up yet but should be by next meeting

Lake Rules/Lake Patrol/Private Lake Status – Bob Helmick:  Lake Patrol will begin the 23rd every Friday through Sunday until Labor Day.

Access Area – Barbie Ahrens:  No report

NEW BUSINESS:

OPEN FORUM:  An elderly man in his 80’s almost feel in the lake while trying to fish on the causeway.  It was suggested that we put up no fishing signs there.  Many people have been asking what the “red flag” means.  Jim offered to post the rules at the Marina as well as install a flag that can be seen from other areas of the lake.

Bob moved that the meeting be adjourned and Deanne seconded the motion.

The next regular meeting will be Wednesday June 11, 2008 @ 7:00 PM.

Meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted
